One item I recommend somewhere (maybe in my survival course or perhaps one of my books, though I can’t quite remember off the top of my head) is a simple keychain pill holder.
I’ve never purchased one myself because I’ve never felt the need to until recently. So, I bought a pair that looked decent for about $6 total. But they’re a bit bigger than I assumed:
Still, adding two to my keychain wasn’t overwhelming. Here’s what they look like as compared to four pills that I take.
From left to right: my allergy pill (generic Zyrtec), a multivitamin, L-Lysine, and fish oil. The fish oil pill may not look it in the photo above, but it’s a bit wider than the Lysine pill to it’s left; my grandmother would’ve called it a “horse” pill.
For what it’s worth I could only fit two of either the fish oil or Lysine pills in a single container, whereas I could fit up to five of the multivitamin, which appear made for these containers. Apologies for the somewhat blurry photo:
But the pill I was most concerned with adding were my allergy pills, of which I fit at least 15 or more with room to spare:
Truth be told, I could’ve fit several more if I tried. I would’ve tested ibuprofen or acetaminophen, but the bottles I had were unopened and I didn’t feel like cracking the seals. Regardless, I probably could’ve fit several of the ibuprofen and maybe three or four of the acetaminophen pills.
So, not quite what I’d hoped for, but then I wasn’t trying to lug around an entire week’s worth of pills, either. I really just wanted an EDC option for my most crucial pills, which are absolutely my allergy pills during spring and summer.
