POTD: Australian Army Soldier – Rim of the Pacific -The Firearm Blog

Photo Of The Day: Above you see (well, kind of) an Australian Army soldier from the 2nd Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment. He patrols through bushland during a simulated reconnaissance operation during the Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) exercise. From June 29 to August 4, 26 countries, 38 ships, four submarines, more than 170 aircraft, and 25,000 people will take part in RIMPAC in and near the Hawaiian Islands and Southern California. His rifle looks like an F88 AUSteyr, or do you think it’s something else?

RIMPAC, the world’s biggest multinational maritime exercise, offers a one-of-a-kind training opportunity while establishing and preserving cooperative relationships among participants, which are vital to safeguarding the safety of sea lanes and the security of the world’s oceans.

The bush comes alive. The location is Bellows Air Force Station, HI, United States.

The 28th exercise in the series, RIMPAC 2022, started in 1971.

Please check back tomorrow for more amazing pictures.
