POTD: Archipelago Endeavor 23 – U.S. Marine Corps -The Firearm Blog

Every day, all year around we at TFB publish at least one photo together with an explanation about what’s going on. We’ve been doing this for a very long time, almost 10 years. The exercise Archipelago Endeavor 23 is the subject of today’s Photo Of The Day.

We look at an infantryman in the U.S. Marine Corps, with the Mobile Reconnaissance Company, 2d Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 2d Marine Division, under the tactical control of Task Force 61/2, as he posts security during a tactical training evolution. That uniform works quite well in this environment.

Exercise Archipelago Endeavor is an integrated, Swedish Armed Forces-led exercise that increases operational capability and enhances strategic cooperation between the U.S. Marines and Swedish forces.

Optics, both day and night, are essential in today’s battlefield.

Below: Calling in a spotted simulated enemy during a tactical training evolution.

As wonderful as it can be at times, the archipelago of Stockholm is a grim, wet, cold, windy and grey world most of the time.
